Mechanised Parking System Supports Growth of Geylang Estate
MHE’s tower parking system is the answer to new apartment’s space demands.
According to Singapore’s Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) master plan, the vibrant and nostalgic estate of Geylang was to undergo a rejuvenation exercise, with more facilities being put in place to serve the needs of the growing community. Old landed properties and shop houses were to be demolished to make way for multi-storey apartments and commercial complexes.
As a result, there was a huge surge in demand for a mechanised parking system to cater to this mushrooming of residential and commercial developments. Semi- or fully automatic car parking systems have become the norm in this bustling estate.
To meet this demand, MHE Singapore supplied a mechanised car parking system to a newly completed apartment located at Geylang Lorong 22. The tower parking system consisted of 35 parking lots and was built with a turn-table mounted on an elevator to automatically move and park vehicles within multiple levels of parking platforms inside the apartment.
Users were required to key in a 4-digit number to park and retrieve their vehicles in the mechanised parking system via an integrated control touch screen mounted next to the entrance of the mechanised parking system.
The installation of the mechanised parking system was challenging as it was done entirely in an enclosed concrete shaft in the apartment. Several parts and components had to be manually delivered to the shaft during the process, hence proper planning and accuracy were vital in eliminating unnecessary rework and delay.
